What a thrill to meet one of my design icons and British design legend Paul Smith himself at the Design Museum last week. Paul was very generous with his time and genuine in his approach to his design and the people who enjoy his work.
I asked Paul a question -
Q would your design be different if you had trained formally in design
A 'I wouldn't have survived....you have to just get out there and do it'
After seeing the exhibition exploring Paul's inspiration & work from his first shop through collaborations until today, I think he's right, just get out there and do it. The original inspiration for my blog, so a little homage today to Paul.
Paul Smith's first 'shop' was only 3x3sqm and opened in 1970, you could say he's come along way.
