As part of the London Design Festival, Tom Dixon hosted a morning to launch the new range of lighting, furniture and accessories. There was Laser Lab with live laser marking from industrial manufacturing giant, TRUMPF & now London Design Journal has it's own chair - in minature.
The latest collaboration adidas x Tom Dixon, shown in the UK for the very first time.
The Y chair was launched, Tom's first contract chair. New furniture and new lighting can be seen throughout the showroom & Dock Kitchen.
Hosted this year at the Dock was ETSY an online marketplace for handmade goods and vintage items. It has an impressive set of figures attracting 30M members worldwide.
So now Tom is a furniture & lighting designer, perfumier, fashion designer, interiors....what next? Well as featured previously on LDJ here the Dixonary, the authorised version of Tom's design work to date. Always an inspiration to see Tom talk about the breadth of his work, breaking away from what we normally think of in a traditional designers role.
Tom Dixon's collaboration with Adidas titled 'Everything-you-can-pack-neatly-in-a-bag-for-a-week-away'
Inspired by two ideas, that of the Dandy Traveller and of the Space Man, the collection focused on extreme utility for travel. Each item was approached by stripping back elements to the bare essentials so that material, form and detail could sit centre stage.
The Y chair came from the desire for a recognisable silhouette, an ergonomic shape and a modern attitude. Injection moulded in glass-reinforced nylon.
