The fourth edition of Design Junction returns in September 2014 and I happy to be giving you a preview today on what's to come. Exciting plans were presented for the upcoming Design Junction in the setting of an amazing birch tree forrest at Platform Gallery and it's set to be bigger and better than ever, the exhibition attracting more than 21,000 visitors.

Be immersed in world class Scandinavian design in the woodland inspired setting. The pop-up exhibition is open until the end of June, don't miss it!

What's new?   Light Junction

The new addition to Design Junction with expansion into a basement floor dedicated to lighting. I think it's overdue and very welcomed.

What's to see and not to miss:

With 180 global brands being showcased in the show, new live flash factories, 30 design-led stores, pop-up eateries, bike tours and more it's set to be epic!

. Ventura London: After the successful edition of Ventura Lambrate in Milan, Design Junction hosts Ventura London over 300sqm. Visitors can expect to see experimental and conceptual exhibtions alongside the most recent developments by the next generation of designers.

. Restaurant from TFL, which is celebrating the year of the bus.

. Dezeen collaboration with British car manufacturer Mini 'Frontiers'

An exclusive installation where 6 designers will give their vision of 'The Future of Mobility'. Taking over 400sqm on the ground floor it will be 'cutting edge and risky' according to Marcus Fairs of Dezeen, the result of a year long collaboration.

'It's the coming together of design and technology that started with Apple, Nest, Air b&b etc. 6 genuine new originals, combining and showcasing what London is producing in the emerging field of technology. The designer of the exhibition is Pernilla Ohrstedt, designer of the Beatbox commission by coca cola for the 2012 olympics.

Designers include: 

Daisy Ginsberg, looking at synthetic biology and the possibilities of an organic car.

Keichi Matsuda, producing a feature film in 1st person view using augmented reality to replace road signs.

Matthew Plummer Fernandez, who will be exploring digital manufacturing technology in the form of dashboard avatars.

Lucy McRae, who will be going the furthest into the future with space travel, preparing the human body for space, what is the ritual of free space travel.

Dominic Wilcox - exploring the idea of driverless cars , ancient crafts combined with cars without OH&S features.

. Blackbody will showcase OLED organic led lighting with a pioneering high-tech installation of 2700 lamps at Design Junction, set to transform the underground space. Blackbody has collaborated with designers such as Thierry Gaugin and Phillipe Starck.

. Jake Dyson will be showcasing commercial working lighting above a roulette table, a sushi chef  and pop up reading room. Lighting that has a 36 year life span. Changing the way we use LED's.

. Design seminars: excitingly with Alberto Alessi to speak. Designers are changing & the design world is changing.  The seminar program promises to bring the industry's best creative and critical minds together on current and future hot issues facing design.

There will be an exciting line up of iconic brands and partners as well as smaller cutting-edge labels. A number of pop-up shops and high-end design stores throughout the 5 day show. The vibrant flash factory area will return bringing the process of industrial production to life.
