For Salone del Mobile 2015, Marni showroom at Viale Umbria 42, became a colourful fruit market, the Marni Mercado de Paloquemao.

Inspired by the homonymous market of Bogotá, Colombia, Marni created an installation where main protagonists are the bold colours of the exotic fruits from a faraway land, their shapes and interpretation.

Like in the last year’s Animal House project, this edition offers unique pieces released in several colours. The fruits become sculptures in metal and pvc, which may turn into containers, in larger sizes, or decorative items for centerpieces, in smaller sizes.

The set-up of the installation invites to conviviality, to be lived around a large table, enriched by the shapes of exotic fruits and all set with tin plates hand decorated with Marni’s archive motifs. Around the table are placed new Marni chairs made of metal and colorful pvc weavings, whereas stools of various shapes, coloursand woven patterns complete the collection. An expressive freedom in choice of compositions, which is reflected by Marni’s collections, where each combination is unique and unexpected.

A rich banquet where pineapple, guanabana, zapote and curuba can be tasted: those are the fruits that Marni brought from Colombia, with the aim to offer the taste of different flavours to the Design Week’s public.

Also this year, the limited edition of objects and furnishings, was entirely handmade in Colombia, involving a group of women who have found their independence and emancipation through their work.

Marni Mercado de Paloquemao reaffirms Marni’s commitment to charity initiatives: the proceeds from the sale of the products will be donated to the charity associations.
