Tom Dixon / Cinema at Milan

Tom Dixon is on a mission to design, illuminate and furnish the future with innovative lighting, furniture and accessories of longevity, simplicity and a materiality inspired by Britain’s unique heritage.

Molten globes, cogs and knurls, sculptural shapes and exotic smells, mirrored finishes and structural welding make up the infinitely rich world of Tom Dixon.

A never-ending research into shape, texture and finishes, an obsession with manufacturing techniques and a deep vein of narratives that come from a uniquely eccentric British standpoint, make up the infinitely rich world of Tom Dixon.

This year, Tom Dixon took over a 400m2 abandoned theatre in the heart of Milan where he created an entertainment show highlighting the latest designs – including MELT, LENS and WINGBACK through a series of extraordinary installations.

Tom says: ‘The resourceful design entrepreneur in the modern age is now committed not just to the creation of an artefact, but also to the communication, contextualisation and commercialisation of their ideas. It is with these objectives in mind that we take over an abandoned theatre in Milan to build a temporary and contemporary selling space where the lines between entertainment and commerce dissolve, and the latest newness is no longer just a prototype on a pedestal but innovation available instantly – to buy now or to have delivered anywhere.’
