Danish architect Merethe Kristensen designed one of my local favourites, Couverture & The Garbstore. Walking past the store is always inspiring not only for the window displays which are changed seasonally & always beautiful. I love the fittings, the brass pendants outside the store lighting the signage & hanging above the register. The interior is beautifully light, elegant & restrained combining a white interior, timber floors rounded timber handrails with brass fixtures. On the wall behind the window display, extending into the store, is a lovely wall treatment of vertical concave corregation in white. On the site of a former timber yard, the space inside allows for a mezzanine, with light streaming in through skylights. Beautiful homewares & clothing, always independant & interesting.
