The exterior of the new Music Hall designed by COR & Asociados certainly has a WOW factor. The use of iridescent ceramic tiles to clad the exterior of the building at once gives it a pearlescent sheen while also reflecting the surroundings almost making the building seem to disappear. Renzo Piano is famously known for using tiles to clad the exterior of his buildings, but I haven't seen anything quite like this. A stunning building & surprisingly a low cost solution. Beautiful pictures.
The building is located in Algueña a small village in the Alicante County, Spain, This building is the opportunity to bring together in a same space all the activities that are spread through the village.
'The use of a ceramic surfacing with pearly and iridescent finishing responds the intention of generating a vibrant volume in constant change, due to lighting changes o observatory movements, this solution makes the building vibrate, changing its colour, saturation and profundity.'
Layered screens create overlapping fins on the interior walls of the auditorium, which are backlit in stripes
